Transfer Case Upgrade

So from what I've been told the stock transfer case on the evo is like glass, and if I'm going to be launching my car a lot I should upgrade the center diff. Is this the best and first step I should take to prep my car for hard launching?

www.Sheptrans.com reinforce the tcase $1595.00. For those wanting more traction and improved reliability we take your transfer transfer case and install a Quaife Limited Slip Differential and reshim your transfer case. We feel the Quaife is the strongest available helical LSD for the EVO. On this upgrade we also upgrade the front differential cover bolts from 8mm to 10mm bolts and now add Heli-Coils to prevent side cover deflection and bolt pullout which allows a poor contact patch and failure of the ring and pinion. You may also build your five speed. Shep is the man!!!

Has anyone ever done this themselves? I'm pretty good with trannys and rears, never done a transfer case before but can't see how different it could be. But that sheptrans seems like a sick deal. For people who have had them work there transfer cases, how long did it take, from mailing it out to receiving it?

honestly...i have had atleast 100 launches in my old evo which wasnt stock...i had an exedy twin clutch...and never ever broke or damaged the transfer case..

my advice to you..if it aint broken...dont fix it..however if it is...send it to Shep.

Do any of these transfer case upgrades, well primarily with the Center Diff... Do they give the ability to adjust torque bias? Like if we wanted to give more torque to the rear, and less to the front. Get rid of the 50/50. My 8 doesnt have the ACD portion. I'd really like to set it to a 33/66 bias or close to that. Researched the CUSCO but it's limited on liturature.

Thanks in advance.

Center diff is in the tranny, not the x-fer case.

Only two options I know of are the Cusco which I think is 35/65, and GSC's which is 40/60.
