Bump for which sensor to use, a 3 bar, or a 4 bar? And what about the timing chain...?

Thanks in advance.

what timing chain???? man you need to do some more reading on these cars and the engines, because there is only a timing belt NO chain, so read some more before upgrading your car, and the timing belt should be done at 60k miles

Timing belt. I mentioned timing chain and belt in a couple of posts ago. My most humble apologies, got rollin with a couple of thoughts. I watched the cam install last night on youtube or something, so I got it. You understood what I was getting at. Of course when I ask about cam gears, i know that they are made for a belt too.
Sorry again. Looks like I will be buying one here, for I am roughly at 70k. Thank you.

yea if you are at 70k then you need the timing belt replaced, but as for the cam gears your stock ones are fine, for our engines you dont really need cam gears unless you are making A LOT of power and you are trying to squeeze every little power out of it...

i would go with a set of kelford cams, and go with some spring valves and retainers if you do go with kelfords.

Get all the maintenance worked out and it priced out and then see what you have to work with. If you have never done a timing belt or cams, don't do it your self. Not a part of the car you want to play with. For cheap stuff, Buy an AEM tru boost, gauge and controller all in one, Get an WB02, meth kit is allot of fun, srings etc, cams. If you dont really care about anything, then get a turbo upgrade and call it all good. I mean really money to power best

I have always been a fan of the Cossi's. But, can't find em for the budget, if I want to get all those parts. So Another membor on this board, or vendor, PM's me a great price on the Kelfords, those or BC's. But I had never heard of either of these manufacturers prior to this board. Not that it matters, for I have read about the great success with both.

On the money there friend. Maintanance will be worked out, do need to do the timing belt for sure. I have rebuilt a couple of JDM motors before, and overhead cams are pretty simple. My worry as I get reaquainted with JDM technology is remembering all the differences in that vrs a US manufacturer. I do feel comfotable tackling the cams on my own. However, you make a great point in the springs and ratainer clips. I do not want to pull the head, and I thought you had to pull the head to do the springs? I also was under the impression that the 272 cams only benefited from springs if you raised your red line? I still plan on having stock revs, and not trying to push it to the highend. Was hoping the Timing belt would be more simpler than that, haven't actually read the manual or found a walkthrough on that job yet...so we will see. I deffinitly dont want to take it the mechanic, to get another $1k in labor charges. So its a toss up on what to do with Labor.

Who knows, maybe I can razz some of these other Utotian's with a BBQ and Drinks on me, if you pay attention to detail, and have done what I need, to come help install the parts in my list, or revised list, once I get it all together. I plan on moving to ordering stage either on the 1st or there after.

I know you have the blood Betty craves. She drinks Mobile One 5/30 currently, full synthetic of course. What is the charge on yours per quart?

Oh, and after I loaded the tranny, center diff, and rear diff with Amsoil that I believe you recommended through conversations off line... Yah, she quieted down a ton. Smooth, locking shifting.. It doesn't clunk, but firm, and locks into gear, doeasn't feel like the shift nob wants to slip out of gear if I put a little pressure on it. You actually have to throttle shif and put good pressure on it.. Though I don't due that, just a reference point.

Thanks again, still open for any recommendations, and thanks for all who have PM'd me.

As far as cams go I have the Forced Performance FP4Rs & I love em. I'd recomend those or the Kelfords. I had the BC 272s & hated them. Dont waste your money on em. As far as a place to buy parts I'd recomend MAP. They have killer pricing, killer customer service, & free shipping on any order over $100.00 Heres a link http://www.maperformance.com/evo-viii-ix/

Bump. Can some one give me the best MAP sensor to go with? I have been researching the 4 BAR Omni map sensor, is it over kill? And if I do the sensor upgrade do I still need to do a boost controller?

Thank you.

Has anyone used the FluiDampr Crank Pully? Reading up on the issues with lightened crank pulley setup I have going on currently.

As far as cams go I have the Forced Performance FP4Rs & I love em.
I read up on those on FP's site. THey say they are a replacement stock cam, mad by Comp cams...enlighten me please, for they have a great combo for cams and springs...

FP red
The red is bigger than I will ever go, unless I find one for say $500...lol

I am actually concidering the TME 20G Magnesium upgrade, or the TME 16G Tiel upgrade. Both turbos are sweet. I am also checking into BBK Turbo's as well. Turbo is another upgrade for another list.
oMaybe you can help me. Can you explain how the MAP Sensor and the Boost Solenoid work together. I found a great deal on the MAP sensor, but am not sure if that is all I need to raise stock boost levels. I am kinda getting confused, for it looks as though that is all I will need, and then I dont have to buy the expensive AEM TruBoost wtih boost controller, or a stand alone unit. Thanks in advance.

dude if you want 400-420 bhp you can stop wasting $ because your prolbly already their. but if you want 400-420 WHP then id say kelford 272's,and a nice ported 9 turbo then a flash and youll pobly make JUST under 400WHP but it would be cheaper then $1700 to do. also dont go with 280's or the fp4r's you dont need that much duration your not gonna rev over 8k so youll have a crazy lumpy idel and a little power loss down low while the kelford 272 are a SIK lower duration cam.
