Valve Train Install

I'm going to be doing cams and valvetrain soon. Since I'm going to be using the stock valves is it necessary or recommended even to remove the head from the car?

Here., watch this: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/H...-on_138721.htm
It is only doing the Cams, and no other upgrades to the valve train, but should get you in the right direction.
Done in like 2 hours.
Good luck.

Yea but my concerns are;
A) that i won't be able to get in there with a plunger spring compressor, so I would have to remove the heads to fit a clamp in there.
B) that the valves will fall in or get damaged.

Exactly. DONT do a full valve train upgrade with springs and retainers with the head on the car. You can do CAMS, but NOT springs.

Sorry, I thought you might be just wanting to do the cams.

doing the springs and retainers with the head still on the car is a piece of cake. there are how tos on how to do it, the method i use is removing the spark plugs and filling the cylinder with compressed air via a compression tester with the check valve removed connected to my air compressor. the how to's tell you to use 100psi, but i have no problems doing it at 30psi (compressor doesn't turn on every 5 minutes). i use the universal spring compressor (lever arm style), but i'll be getting one of the EZ-keeper tools that machine shops use. the keeper-ez tools don't look like they will work well for the intake valves, but should work fine for the exhaust.

I couldn't find one of those keeper-eze tools last time I tried, but it did make it look incredibly easy. The pro tool is like $160 or so I think.

If you do it with the head on the car, be careful not to lose any of the keepers. plug up all the oil passages with shop towel or something, and have a magnet pen.

Here's the writeup- https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...r-install.html

Has anyone else used this tool that can vouch for it's effectiveness.
