Maybe i missed something, btu more and more i keep seeing people spell Amsoil with the "AMS" part emphasized with capitals. I thought Amsoil was a separate company from AMS. It seems like some people on this forum, including the OP are under the impression that Amsoil is made by AMS. Is it???

Gear oil may cause a slight increase or decrease in noise but it won't cause/prevent rattles. That's a mechanical issue.

Amsoil is separate from AMS. Just an FYI for anyone wondering, I believe it's pronounced as one word, not A-M-S oil

no sir AMS performance has absolutly nothing to do with AMSOIL,

AMSOIL was founded back in 1973 by an american USA airforce pilot, he was the first one to introduce synthetics into the car industry.

I have to agree, I put Redline MT-90 in my DSM and it felt almost like a different car. So much so I almost a bit wary of it because I think about how I used to use BG Synchroshift II which is now not recommended because its so thin. I haven't put any in my Evo yet, but when its time she'll get it.

Ive yet to try amsoil but I recently just put in redline mt90 and it shifts so much smoother that I love shifting now. I used to hate how the oem fluid would be so notchy

I've gone from OEM, Redline, BG II, Amsoil. Amsoil worked and is working great. Redline is good but I prefer the results from Amsoil.

Yeah i was already pretty sure that they are separate companies, but it seems like alot of people on the forums think it s come from AMS.

explain the difference between "noise" and "rattle". I'm not getting gear noise, no wine.

Transmissions DO rattle people.

Amsoil is a great product, unfortunately the evo drivetrain can be quite picky and for the most part hates anything except for OEM.

!. Drive around to stir and heat the transmission oil.

2, Drive onto ramps and pull the fill plug. It is labeled "Oil".

3. Pull the 24mm drain plug and watch the oil shoot out horizonality landing on the other side of your drain pan.

4. Quickly move the pan over making an even bigger mess.

5. Replace the drain plug. I use a funnel with about three foot of hose. Drop the funnel in from above next to the mass sensor, crawl under and place the end of the hose in the fill hole. From above pour fluid until you hear it dripping into the pan.

6. Pull the funnel and back off of the ramps so the car is level. Watch as a lot of your expensive oil drains onto the garage floor making still more mess. Replace fill plug.

7. Go to the store to buy oil dry since your wife used all you had as kitty litter.
