And when i log i dont really have any problems with the temp rising. IAT are normally about ten degrees above ambient. on a hard 4th gear run they may increase about ten degrees... i was thinking more about the flow increases than anything. O2 housing is on the list though.

On ebay they have intercoolers for $200 and there identical to the ams intercooler. iv held them right next to each other and there the same. so I would recommend getting one of those, it will help a little with ur mods. make sure it is the one that is just like the AMS one, because I know for a fact it is the same.

have you compared the internal fin design? One of the main key points to an intercooler is the internal fin design. Most eBay style cores use a straight through fin pack (not so good).

Very much not the same. The AMS uses the Garrett core. The one you linked looks similar, but doesn't even have the same amount of charge rows in the core (can't be the "identical"). Also, the fin density isn't nearly the same as the AMS, or any other Garrett core based intercooler.

You get what you pay for with an intercooler. There are varying levels of performance for sure, but this very much isn't a part that you want to skimp on... especially if you're turning up the boost or considering any type of aftermarket (larger) turbo.

My $.02. YMMV of course.

Yeah - im sure AMS has a 400% markup from the ebay vendors..

That almost seems probable.

Consider that MANY AIT vs MAT tests have shown GOOD FMIC"s only rise a couple of deg on a single gear pull -- While ebay ones have been shown to rise 50 deg OR MORE on just ONE pull.

Now I dont know about you - but I do more then just one gear/pull when I get on it..

But then again - I have a BR race FMIC kit. So I dont sweat it.

Dude don't get the ebay. That thing is crap. Believe me, if they were so awesome and cheap we would all have them...

mate please please got your head together. they may LOOK similar but a very small but important detail puts the 2 intercoolers in totally different leagues.
Research.

You'd be surprised how all these different companies use the same cores from only a few manufacturers like spearco and garret. Just because it is an ebay unit doesn't mean it is crap. It may have the same core as a greddy, ETS, AMS, ets. The main differences between them all is the end tank design and quality of welding.

You will not gain power from swapping in an FMIC alone. You have to tune for it and increase boost, timing, etc. It is more of a supporting mod to maintain hp.

The stocker is good for well over 350whp.

If you want to run more boost and get knocking down in the process... an intercooler is the best way to go. From what I have seen.. the bar type looks to be the best bang for your buck. its harder for a rock or ect... to ding the intercooler and poke a hole in it. and the bar type seems to move more air than the tube and fin type.

just my .03....

You should for one really know what you are looking at first and two think before posting that degrading nonsense because that is NOT true at all.

Stay away from ebay even if it looks similar. Other great ic's are Nisei and HKS if you can find it.
