New FMIC worth the money???

Hey all. I have a 2005 8 with the following mods

3" TBE, Megan Exhaust manifold, MBC at 22 psi, HKS intake, AMS LIP, and a bad reflash ( in the process of solving this myself, only running 3* of timing from 3000 to 6000 rpm)

What would be the next upgrade i should consider. I have been looking at new upper piping and small battery and will probably get that next. Mainly i was just wondering when the stock IC starts costing power and which one will deliver the best gains. my end power levels will probably never be over 500 whp.

Thanks

When you start running more boost I would upgrade the FMIC. CBRD FTW.

At 22psi ur prob killin ur stock fmic,

I like my BR race fmic some of the best AIT drops and lowest pressure drops.

A fuel pump would be a good idea too.

cbrd's intercooler picked me up 29whp and 19wtq, so there is definately power to be made with a good quality core. if you want to do right the first time make sure you use a garret core.

Buschur Racing's intercoolers have been tested to perform time and time again, better than a lot of the competition. I have the ETS though, and I love it.

We always recommend an intercooler if your on the stock unit. Check out this thread.

Yeah, youre in need of an upgrade. Youre going to have heat soak issue, so better safe than sorry.

I saw 29WHP from the Turbo XS IC and Injen Pipes; stock turbo on pump. Then another 79WHP from E-85 with 880's on stock turbo.

I wish I had done more logging and testing, but my 3.5" ETS IC works great on my stock turbo. I was able to add somewhere in the neighborhood of 6* of timing compared to the stock IC. I did add a LICP at the same time though (Nisei).

I'll have to see if I can find some logs from the old IC and the new one to compare for you. But the fact is that an upgraded IC is always a great choice on a turbocharged car, and IMO should be one of your basic mods. Cooler temps = more horsepower and less knock potential. With great companies like ETS providing nice ICs at low prices, I think it's a no brainer.
