MDC Install

I have a Hallman Boost Controller that I've been waiting on my boost gauge to install. The gauge is now in but can I install a boost controller now, even though I will not be getting a tune for at least a month. I am keeping the boost stock until I'm tuned obviously but is it safe? Even if I have it set for the stock Psi, is there a greater chance of it spiking?

Mine held firm at 19 right where I set it. Just don't get crazy and turn the knob too much. I did it in half turn increments. It wound up taking like 4-1/2 turns to reach stock boost levels.
