Like someone else asked, what kind of upper IC pipe is this? Is it beaded? I have never had a problem with beaded IC pipes blowing off when properly clamped, even with worm clamps.

what coupler are you using?

if both the tb & pipe have their beads on them, it shouldnt be an issue....but your having issues.

what uicp are you using?

if its an aftermarket unit or not, be certain the uicp can move a bit, via the rubber couplers...if its too tight, like a NET FIT, the engine rocks & this maybe causing part of your headahe.

Quote: I generally use carb cleaner on throttle body and also on a clean rag and wipe out the inside of upper I/C hose really good. Then wipe one last time with carb cleaner soaked rag and quickly install hose to T/B. Wait a few minutes then tighten clamp. Once the carb cleaner evaporates it turns your hose into a very tacky rubber and should hold very well. Every one that I have tried this method on has held up,all the way to 35 psi.
thats what i ment exactly what he said sence you showed me how to do it one day. damn licp! haa

Quote: The hairspray works just fine.

Carb cleaner making the rubber tacky...cause its dissolving the rubber and breaking it down. Sure it may work, but I wouldnt do this to my car.
You are joking, right I have done this to at the very least 1000 vehicles and never once see it "dissolve rubber". I even use that on the M/C slicks that I run on my T/G bike to aid in not spinning the rim/tire bead and never one seen rubber disolve. What it actually does like mentioned eariler in this thread is removes all oils/grease from the silicone/rubber thus bringing it back to its fresh out of the mold state. Have you ever tried to remove samco silicone radiator hoses fresh out of their original package? The hoses are imposible to remove from the bag without ripping the bag to pieces, and it's not due to the rubber dissolving, that is just how sticky/tacky silicone is in its as new condition, just like when you clean it with carb cleaner.

I had my stock uicp blow off at the tb with stock clamps. I replaced with an aba clamp, cleaned and did the hairspray thing-- at an auto x event it blew off and twisted the clamp to out of shape to hell. Would have been one of my fastest times too, oh well.. I replaced it with a t-bolt clamp and whatever residue of hairspray was on there from the previous week and no problems since. t-bolt ftw. I think that the stock couplers might lose alot of ability to stay on there tight-- maybe getting stretched over time a bit. The 05s have a longer tb inlet than the 03-04s IIRC, so T-bolts fit perfectly on the tb actually.
