You are supposed to use reflective heat wrap when you want to keep something cool.

Typical cloth wrap is designed to hold heat in.

It is currently wrapped with the same heatwrap as my downpipe. I understand that the concept of that particular wrap is to keep the heat in. This is why its effective on exhaust as hotter air is less dense thus the exhaust gas will be able to flow faster.

But when it comes to intercooler piping, I get a little confused. For the sake of discussion im more focused on the uicp. In theory air thats in the uicp should be cold thanks to the intercooler. But the piping also aids in cooling the air. If the pipes are wrapped in a heatwrap the pipe will no longer be able to draw out the heat. But at the same time the wrap should keep the heat away from the hot engine bay.

So which is best?

engine bay will almost always be hotter than your IAT so i see wrapping the UICP as being very bennificial... if your IATs are that high maybe you should think about a bigger IC before you worry about wrapping the UICP.

Just my .02...

You would have to contact sheerer. He does it.

A few others do it -- I have been looking around for a while now. MAP also does it I believe.

WRapping the UICP with standard raps will cause your AIT to rise. The chrome/polished look will reflect more heat then that wrap. That wrap will actually HOLD heat when you idle, etc. And raise your AIT's...

If the big guys dont do it.. dont you think there might be a reason? =)
