I think the question you need to ask yourself is do you want to cut your crash beam or not. I had an AMS street core for the past almost 2 years. I just sold it last week and went to the BR Race core.

I would say that any 4" cored IC is gonna need the beam notched. The AMS doesnt. I d have to say that if you dont mind the cutting then go 4" all the way.

Exactly. I didn't want to, so I went with the AMS FMIC. And like everyone else has said, you can't go wrong with either FMIC.

Is the standard 4" ETS fmic a garrett core as well? I'd prefer to have the 3.8" garrett if possible, how would I go about that?

No the 4" core is not a Garrett core, it is an ETS specified design

Talk to the guys at ets they have a couple of options availible when ordering a fmic so you can build something custom, wide or standard end tanks, anodizing, garret or ets core, thickness, etc.

ETS baby vs. the AMS I'm sure performance wise you won't find a difference. I like the look of the ETS piece on the car over the AMS anyday

We can use a Garrett core instead of the ETS core, we just need to know before we build the intercooler. The ETS core is a true 4.0" thick core, where the Garrett is between 3.7" and 3.8" - We currently have the 4.0" intercooler installed on our car with no trimming, but it does touch the crash beam.

Anyways, we can build the intercooler your looking for no matter the size, thickness, color. We also have the option for blue or black silicone.

Thanks!!

Michael

Thanks a ton guys, going to order the ETS 4" today =)

Mike @ AWD motorsports gave me some pretty good deals on a bunch of stuff I was picking up, going to give them a call now and place my order (o2 housing, exh manifold walbro, mbc, and of course, the intercooler)

Going to be a fun rest of summer

ETS 3.5 for stock turbo. Although, if there 4" is really 3.7, that should not have as much boost pressure drop off as a true 4".
