Opinion on a flywheel

I tried searching and i didn't find much on this topic so here is the story. I orderd a new clutch last week and i ordered an Exedy Stage 1 clutch. The place I took my car to told me that when he took everything apart he also noticed that I needed a new flywheel. I asked if he could resurface it and he said that wasnt the problem, the problem was that some of the teeth broke off and were missing. First of all, how is that at all possible, and what type of flywheel would you guys recommend for me. I saw one on ebay made by "F1" and its called the pro-lite. It's not that I am trying to be cheap but the whole deal of getting a new clutch is already extremely expensive and I wanted to know what the consequences would be if I got an ebay flywheel. Thanks for your help.

^^^i agree. ive personally also been somewhat against ebay parts, although certain ones have been proven to work well. when it comes to something as important as a flywheel it may be worth it to get the "better" produced one in order to avoid having to re-do it in the future (aka more money).

i personally run a fidanza light weight flywheel. its 9.5 pounds and only around 300 bucks if i remember correctly. revs much more freely than stock. many vendors on here offer great deals on flywheels so check them out. i personally ordered from jsc speed and it got a great deal and great customer service. gl with w.e route you choose

I have the F1 flywheel in my car and i have nothing but good things to say about it...

Its made in japan and its balanced and made of chromoly... for a great price i would definetly go for it.

As for the teeth braking off.. thats weird.. if the teeth were to have broken off you wouldnt have been able to start your car or you would have heard crazy grinding noises when you would start your car...

Maybe they broke it and now want to blame you for it...

The Teeth are only there to make contact with the starter so that the starter can turn the flywheel so your car can start...

Its pretty damn hard. Only way I can think of doing it is grinding the hell out of your starter when you are already started. But then once they are broken off i would think they would rattle around in there.
