Looks like the Ghostbusters went crazy with ectoplasma inside your gear box.

Rebuilding a gear box is the final frontier for me - I still haven't done it, thus I know nothing about what those should look like. Nice pictures though.

You know its funny that MANY of these failures have been using redline fluid. I really don't think its as good as some believe. Theres a point to being a coincidence but seeing probably 15+ different peoples tranny fail over the last year for various unknown reasons seems very fishy. I remember back in the day when people raved about how well BG fluids were or the synchromesh until they actually took apart their tranny. Something to think about atleast...although I am sure the people that sell you the Redline fluids will be more than happy to tell you otherwise.

That blue is kinda crazy

By the was that synchro hub looks there has been some **** floating around in your transmission.

Looks like you need the 2nd gear the synchro the hub and sleave and also the hub and sleve for 3rd gear.

4th doesn't look to bad but if you doing it might as well

were you having and lock out issues or grinding?

side note... I have never seen a roll pin back out that would be a first.

if you need access to the Transaxle rebuild portion of the FSM I might know where one is

it looks like there are grooves in the on the sides of the teeth from the slider maybe its the oil/camera angle.

I was going to say I have used sleeve retainer in the past on roll pins, different application but same principal. I am thinking that we are talking about one and the same.

I believe its coincidence. Or if its not, its people that use Shockproof in the trans. Every evo 5mt (50+) i have put redline mt90, shifted better, didnt suddenly become louder, or anything stupid like that. One or two of them broke the trans, but at high power levels, drag racing the car.

Some people say the lightweight can go in the trans... IMO i think there is absolutly no reason for it. Myself or any other evo owner i personally know with mt90 in it, can shift that trans as fast as they want. Besides, right on redlines website, it says lightweight is not recommended for most synchronized transmissions, because its too "slippery" for the syncros used in the evo trans.

Check it out ^^
The gear oils i have used personally for my Evo/DSM transmissions have been AmsOil severe gear 75w90 GL4, BG syncroshift (I and II), OEM, and Redline MT90 GL4. Ill take Redline anyday. And I do not work for Redline, lol. Just to clarify, im not intentionally "hating" on anything, especially amsoil, my opinions only.

I reccomend you first measure the inside diameter of that hole, and get a roll pin that has about a .005" tight fit tolerance.

Mcmastercarr.com they can make you a custome roll pin.

Man i tell you what i can talk all day long about this type of suff,

I burned a TC coming back from Portland back in 03 or 04 from running Redline GL5 75w90 instead of OEM 90. Ya I know its the TC and not the tranny but still..
