what are you talking about safety wire , there is no need to safety wire this, a roll pin that is pressed in at a tigh tolerance will/should not come out.

How to press in a roll pin, just like any shop will do it. remember a roll pin has a slit down the lenght of the pin and is not solid like a Dowell pin, the reason the roll pin is designed like that is so it will compress while being pressed and then expands back out once pressed.

i understand the design reson of a pin, is to take shear load, however your theory applies more to an Dowell Pin, Roll Pins because of the slit down the middle they will press in pretty tight.

safety wire is great, is used in Aerospace/Aviation for very good reasons, however that place in the tranny safetywire is not smart, because of all the moving parts.

If you really worried about it you could double roll pin it

I would totally agree... In addition I would ask for some advice from some specialists like John Shepard......

FYI: John recommends Heavy shockproof Redline for stock tranny.... he's got something else for heavy duty power... don't remember what it is.

Is tranny failures from both redline shock proof fluids???

And what exactly would you safety wire it to?

Roll pins stay compressed after they're pressed in. I've never seen a design that allowed one to expand again after being pressed in.

Double roll pin it?

In aviation applications safety wire is installed on the exterior of engines (i know this a tranny).

Are people making this stuff up?

thank you sir.

no where to safety wire it to, plus i would not safety wire nothing inside a tranny.

Double roll pin it, no such thing.

roll pins actually are slotted and they load up as you press them, MCmastercarr.com has some great pieces.

Ernie, I got ya now. If ya have the clearance I don't see why that wouldn't work.

Did you try pushing the pin back down? Does it move easily?

He has to keep himself in business...remember there are also plenty of people that have ruined Shep and TRE trans too. Just because a shop recommends a fluid they sell for profit doesn't really mean jack. Running for 8 sec down a strip and daily driving on it for 20k miles is too different things.

Point is like another member said is shockproof lightweight or heavyweight should NOT be ran in the trans. MT90 is for that.
