550 WHP Fuel system

Just want some advice on what fuel system to use. As in, twin Walbro fuel pumps, or a single Weldon pump. What’s the easiest to install? The less cutting I have to do the better. As far as injector size I thought that 880cc would get me my goal, and I’ll go with an AMS fuel rail. Now am I missing something? Should I get a fuel pressure regulator? I realize that I could just get the AMS 1000hp fuel system kit, but I really don’t need the SS lines that come with that kit, I’d rather spend that money else were.

Twin walbro 1000cc injectors are the easiest. You probably wouldnt need the fpr unless you're going well over 600whp

Shouldn't need an aftermarket fuel rail. Also, if this is going to be a pump gas setup I think you would be fine with a single walbro as I've been told they run out of fuel around the same time as 1000cc injectors.

Injector size... I would say you should be safe with 1000's but 1200's would be my choice so you have a bit more injector left for later.

We also just wrapped up our black billet fuel rails as well. Release coming soon!

As far as the regulator the stock one will be fine.

Here is your fuel pump solution. https://secure.buschurracing.com/cat...roducts_id=947

This is what is ran in the BAD BISH, the BAD BISH duplicates and all of the 500whp pump gas/600+whp race gas cars we build. Doesnt miss a beat. We normally sell 5-8 of these a week and havent had a single complaint.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

EDIT: Slorice is on his game and beat me to reply. lol

On pump gas I would say 1 single wally 255 intank will be fine. If you need more and are on a budget get a bosch 044 and run it inline with the walbro.

It doesnt matter honestly whether its pump gas, E85 or Race gas. If he wants 550 WHEEL horsepower the information has been provided for what he will need in order to support that goal.

1 single Walbro will NOT support 550 actual whp on pump gas or race gas.

Let's say he does a Red on E85, I have been told 1200s at the least by David himself.

"The 1,000’s are needed for the E85 and if you plan to run the Red you will need the double pumper and 1200’s, if the car makes big power like mine is"

This is what David recommended to me as I am going with a similar setup to the Project White.

I beg to differ. Aaron at English Racing just made 560+ on a single walbro on pump gas.

E85 has the highest fuel requirements of any common fuel we all run, about 30% more than gasoline.

Pump gas will typically have the 2nd highest fuel requirement because in order to get by with making big power on pump gas you will typically run the BSFC higher, meaning richer fuel mixtures.

Race gas you can run the leanest and still not have problems with detonation, so it requires the least as far as a fuel system goes.

The fact is Jarrod/Slorice and TheDream are all correct. To make 550 whp (not Dynojet or Dynapak numbers which are inflated) on our dyno here you will need no less than 1,000 cc injectors and twin pumps.

A single Walbro 255 pump is out of fuel at 500 whp on our dyno, the pressure is already falling off. I am certain if you check with anyone making claims other wise that the fuel pressure will noticably be falling off up top as the pump can not supply enough fuel to keep the rail pressure up. You could of course run 1600 cc injectors at 100% duty cycle at lean fuel mixtures with a single Walbro pump and probably make 800 whp, is it the correct way or safe way to do it? HELL NO.

So to answer the question of the OP, you will need twin pumps and 1200 cc injectors to get the job done safely, reliably and to have some room for more upgrades.

My RS runs that combination on gasoline and makes 700+ whp on our dyno on race gas with about 9X% duty cycle. My other car, Project White is on that same combination making 520'ish whp on E85 and has the injectors nearly maxed out.
