oil all over the Cat.

Just came back from a track event and realized at the gas station that there was smoke coming from under the car (bad smell too). Looked underneath and saw oil all over the cat and surrounding area.

search a bit and read that it may be that the cat has gone bad. should that be the only thing that is replaced? what else should I be looking for?

thanks!

The cat will not become oily if it's bad. The exhaust fumes may smell bad, but it won't magicly become oily. Since you were at the track, I'd take a closer look and make sure you haven't broken anything mechanical that could leak oil, ie: Engine, Trans, T-case.
