Max boost on EVO VII turbo

What is the max. boost pressure (psi, or bar) for the OEM EVO7 turbo?
How much boost will the turbo handle until it starts to lose its efficiency?

The turbo on the GSR is the TD05HR-16G6-9.8T.

Assuming all else is equal, and we are not considering ANYTHING else(fuel, breathing etc), at around 1.7 - 1.8 bar the turbo begins to become inefficient due to overspeed. I have read that you could run 2.0 bar in the mid-range and the compressor will handle it. This should yield approx. 380hp. At that point I would be very concerned with too much heat being generated within the compressor.

It all comes down to flow rates and the limitations of the 16g6 compressor. Of course temperature is also a major issue. As such, I would say that 1.7 bar is the practical limit of the turbo in question.

Are you serious? The turbo gives you 380 horsepower?

If your question is: "Is the TD05HR-16G6-9.8T Turbo capable of 380hp?" then the answer is yes.

Keep in mind that this is probably as far as you would want to take it, because as I stated in my previous post at this level of boost the turbo begins to become inneficient, and the compressor runs very hot.

what i think is the OEM boost is about 18psi or so. but the 16G can take more then that. I think it can take it past 20psi. but there are 3 types of 16G like small 16G 16G and big 16G out there

Re: Max Boost on Evo VII Turbo

So it's 380? Or 375?

edit: and by chance, does anyone know it for a 1999 eclipse? and it is probably pointless to ask, but does anyone know any info for the evo VIII? specs? or this what horsepower its turbo gives you?

Let's not split hairs here. There are so many other variables that need to be accounted for, that saying 375-380hp for the turbo in question should be accurate enough for anything you are trying to do. Claudius quoted you the flow capacity of the turbo(0.72 cm2/s), which again yields approximately 375 - 380hp. If you know how the car generates horsepower then you know of the multitude of other variables will effect the final hp numbers. I have no interest in griping over a few hp here or there.

Noone here knows yet the actual spec's of the Evo that is coming to the USA. Or even whether it will be called the VII or VIII. You could however go check out the rumors forum for what people are guessing.
