Boost problem...

I have a problem with my EVO IX (specs: stock turbocharged, full 3 inch exhaust, cosworths M2 camshafts, ECU flash, AVCR)

Problem is boost leak after 6000 rpm from 24.5 psi to 14.5 psi to 8000 rpm…..before boost stay about 21-22 psi at 8000 rpm

I check:
- All piping and intercooler – no boost leak
- changed turbocharged to new
- check exhaust and intake manifolds
- changed spark plugs
- changed ignition coils
- changed MR BOV
- check camshafts, springs, mivec, belts

Please help, I don’t know were I must finding...

many thanks

Is the AVCR an electronic boost controller device? I think it is, but I am not sure. I was wondering just how you are controlling boost. Sorry for the newbie question.

You mention that you´ve changed to a new turbo. Is it a new stock, factory IX turbo, or an altogether different turbocharger?

EGR hoses, throttle body shaft seals... but you need to do a proper boost leak check not just check the IC piping...

Sounds like the snorkel syndrome with the stock intake tract, are you using the stock intake?

It's not a boost leak if it doesn't do it throughout the rpm, it's not like it would bust a leak at only 6k+rpm. There's something else wrong with the tune/boost controller/something else.

Actually this is possible... I was leaking out of my lower IC pipe at the J-pipe and it wouldn't pop off it would just leak boost real bad... but you didn't notice until about 15 psi of boost... However the sock snorkel is a big possibility also.

yes, it's possible to have a leak emerge at a higher boost level, but it's not dependent upon the rpm. If boost leaks @ 15psi, it will do it at 2000rpm or 8000rpm.

Igor, you speak russian? Well your name is Igor... :P

Two points:
-boost taper is normal on the stock turbo
-do a boost leak test to make sure there are no leaks anywhere in your intake tract.
