Bov

I know most people believe BOV on the EVO are a bad idea in general. I currently have the HKS SSQV installed by the previous owner but it does seem to give a few driveability issues. So I was wondering what everyone thinks the best replacement is, the metal MR version or something aftermarket? thanks in advance!

From: Still in NC!! Loving retired life!!
I've been running the synapse synchronic BPV (recirculated since I still have the MAF) for a few years now and love it. There are several write ups about it on the forums. If you are still mostly stock and not running over stock boost levels I would just stick with the IX metal DV.

Good bov/dv I've had:
- Stock IX
- APS dual vent
- WORKS

Bad bov/dv I've had:
- Forge Evo15
- Forge RS
- Greddy Type S

Good & bad as far as driveability....

For running stock or near stock boost is the stock IX the best as far as drivability and affordability?

APS is really good, i have the Tial Q with the 11psi spring. A lot of people will tell you NOT to go VTA because of drive-ability but trust me get the right spring and you wont have any issues. The tial is by far the best BOV on the market.

but if youre staying near stock boost stick with the stock BOV

I figured I would ask because I do not have the stock one, so if there was a different option that would be as effective i wanted to know.

i have the Forge RS and it was horrid on the Evo!!!

I swapped back to stock plastic and was a hell of alot more driveable, but would lose like 3-4psi of boost.

I put a metal IV one in and doesnt sound nearly as cool as the Forge, but holds boost very well at 25psi or so so far and drives awesome.

Well it truly depends on your setup but for close to stock car I would run a crushed Stock IX BOV or the WORKS. That being said, it should be recurculated if you are running a MAF. It will drive much much better.

If you are running speed density then I would run VTA. I currently have the Turbosmart RacePort and I love it! Its sick and doesn't surge under low boost and good for 40+lbs.
