I converted my setup to speed density when I went to a bigger turbo. Basically with the speed density you get rid of the mass air flow sensor and all the honeycomb garbage that goes with it. With the speed density, you dont remove the cable that hooks up to the mass air but you end up using an air intake temp sensor and a 3 bar map sensor. The guy that did my conversion plumbed all this in and controls it with a MAFT PRO tuner in order to keep things in check. I went to this setup because the new turbo is pushing so much air, the mass air wouldn't have been able to keep up with it. So far, its worked out really well for me and I havent had any issues with it. Hope this helps out...

I'll post just because I never see any one post in here and I'm reaally interested in SD. There are a couple guys over in the Ecflash forum that are really know there isht, but basically the choices are to go with a "larger" Mass Air Flow" meter (GM is popular) and translate the signal to your ECU, or ditch it entirely and use an IAT (intake air temp sensor and MAP sensor with a piggyback (MAFTPro) or complete standalone.

The Maft pro has some really cool features such as AFR target etc. I really hope these get popular becuase it offers a lot of tuning freedom in comjuction with Ecuflash and keeps the OBD2 function intact that I need for emissions compliance here in MA.

Blow through is a lot easier than SD. It can be a bear if you don't know what your doing to set up SD. The MafT Pro is a great alternative to a stand alone. I use a 3" GM no maf screen..... you can use Ford or a few other aftermarket meters.

Blow through lets you vent the BOV to atmosphere just like SD. You can get the Maf behind the turbo less restriction great for bigger turbos.

If you want SD just get a hold of TTP and I'm sure they will help you get set up.

Blow through, GM MAF, stock MAF, stock ECU, MAF Translator, MAFTPro. We can handle all of these setups.

This link might be useful.. I'm a fan of blowthrough sensors, but regardless its good reference info for you to make your own decision.

This thread is my experiments with a ford cobra MAF sensor in a blowthrough configuration. Its dated around 2004.. I'm still running the same hardware (Second generation setup) with a GT35r turbo, and HKS280 cams among other "difficult" parts to tune with the stock ECU.

anyone know who makes good couplers that go stock intercooler pipe size (2.5 i think) to 3" ??

and i wish to keep the stock battery and size/location and still run blowthru set up. has that been done before?

and modified stock IC pipes. cut and roll beads on them and add couplers.

All the popular vendors sell good silicon couples...... Buy good clamps to

I cut my battery tray and turned the battery sideways and drilled new holes for the tie straps. I cut my Injen upper IC pipe bead rolled the edges and it still barely clears. If any of the pipes hit anything or the MAF hits you might get some P0300 codes.
