ur engine is gonna get hot ur heat has to go somewhere?

 

lol yea i noticed mine do it way more when i did a manifold on my stock turbo and even more so now that i have a aftermarket turbo and mani. As others said its a real good thing that vent is there.

 

i've cooked hot dogs on my hood.

 

Thats what the vent is for :-) Means your car is in tip top condition, well all but that exhaust rattle and replace the wiper fluid when you get a chance

This thread made me chuckle a little. There are very few things that are on the Evo purely for aesthetics. Things like the functional hood vent are why I love my Evo!

 

I love staring at the heat wave coming out of the hood. I wonder if you can fabricate a grill so you can cook some steaks while driving.

i get steam comming outta my hood when that rain hits the mani

 

I see it all the time also. It seems to be taking some of the paint off of mesh grill too.

 

I was out for a fun drive once.parked the EVO in the garage and went in the house to cool down a little myself. When I came back out, my son was cooking marshmellows over the hood vent! I chuckled and asked him what he was doing..... he says " cooking marshmellows dad! DUH!

hahaha, your manifold gets really hot no matter how hard or easy you drive it, that heat's gotta go somewhere. after your done driving pop your hood and i dare you to touch the manifold and see how hot it is.
