278 WHP with DYNOFLASH!

I just got home after coming back from CT, and driving for most of the night.

Well, first off....I arrived @ Pruven, and was quickly greeted by Big Al himself. After being entertained by his post all across the net, I wasnt sure what to expect from him. It turns out though that he was very friendly, and ready to answer whatever questions I had.

One of the Pruven guys drove my car onto the dyno, and from there on, I was hoping for the best after reading post about other peoples results with the Dynoflash. My only mod was a turbo XS boost controller boosting around 19-20lbs.
Stock EVERYTHING ELSE.

Baseline for my car was 246 whp with just the boost as it was set. After a few runs on the dyno with Al tuning my A/F and some timing, he was able to wring out 274 whp with a 11.6 A/F. At that point, I was VERY happy, but Al suggested that although it was fairly safe, he wanted to make it just a bit conservative. So he tuned it again, and this time the A/F was @ 11.2, but he also slightly tuned the timing, and was able to get 278 whp.

THat was a 32 WHP gain with JUST the dynoflash.

I take the car out for a test drive, and right away, I notice the power increase.

Another thing I quickly notice is the smoothness of the powerband. The car felt a bit "rough" when stock. With the Dynoflash, the car just felt so much smoother.
I left VERY happy with both the gains, and the smoothness.

So I spend the evening driving around, and I was actually getting MORE MPG now.

Usually, with regular driving, which includes some spirited driving here and there, I was getting around 200 to a tank.

Now, with the Dynoflash, Im have 130 miles on the clock since I last filled up in CT, the needle is just slightly under the middle position on the gas guage! The whole time driving tonight, I just notice that Im getting better MPG. Which is a very big PLUS.

All in all, Im a VERY happy Dynoflash customer, and Al was a class act! Thanks very much! I will definitely be coming back for more tuning through Dynoflash once I get more mods in the very near future!

BTW....I will post up the Dynosheet, along with the A/F as soon as I can get someone with a scanner. I lost my HP program files and I need to either get it so I can use my scanner, or have someone scan it for me.

Stock Evo Dyno Flash dyno sheets - big variance between stock evos!

We saw a BIG variance between stock evos today on the dyno.

Each stock EVO needed a vastly diffenet tune to get to the same power point. We feel more and more that through the mail tunes are not adviseable on Evos. There is far too much variation between evos - same dyno - same day - big difference between the cars. One of them just needed to have big time fuel pulled out to get it in line - the one that made 257 to the wheels

Last night we did one that made 274 to the wheels

It seems the stock evos range from 210 - 240 to the wheels - thats a big range

The onlt tune that we would offer through the mail on evos would be a very very mild slight tune - about 1/2 our regular on the dyno tune

This one picked up and AMAZING 46 whp with just the flash !

Here is the last one - 93 octane map a bit less power - the owner wanted a very safe tune - a bit less ign timing

Why do the dyno sheets have NO A/F?
What gear are the pulls done in?
What octane fuel?

Thanks.

Those are some ugly AF.
Is AF hard to control on the EVO?

Here is the last one - 93 octane map a bit less power
What octane maps were the other tuned at, 94? I actually feel like Exxon 93 seems a tad better than the Sunoco 94. I know a lot of other people in other states feel the same.
Good job on the tuning though. I'd be interested in the dynoflash if I could get some people together for a dyno day here in the midwest.

We dont tune the cars to have flat a/f curves - we run much richer than most with a bit more timing and we put in even more fuel at points were knock activity occurs to prevent the ecu from pulling out timing

At least WE release out a/f curves and dyno sheets and publish them here. Some of the other reflash tuners don't like to share that info with you guys. While we stay super rich to avoid any problems - they run it close to 12/1 all the way accross the power band - I rather put in more fuel run more timing and make even more power with a colder and safer tune.

We look to have a flat power curve - or as flat as we can get it. You dont feel a/f's when you drive the car - you feel the power. Thats why all my clients are usually remarking how smooth the car feels when they go on their test drives. Also - i personally drive each and every car myself to make sure its running 110% before it leaves the shop.

How will temperature changes afect the Dynoflash? Meaning, here in PA the temperature can vary from 10-100 degrees as the seasons change. Will there be any need for a reflash? How will these temperature changes affect tune and safety? So far I've been impressed with the numbers, but I'm always concerned with reliability

The ecu has a large degree of temprature correction already built in and we leave a very sizeable margin of saftey. We are confident that the tune will withstand all operating tempuratures. I will say this - I would NOT be confident if I were sending these tunes through the mail. There is far too much car to car variance to hope that the tune is in the range sending it out through the mail. The tune we are offering through the mail has 1 degree less timing and is almost a full point richer in a/f ratio. Its about half way between stock and the normal on the dyno Dyno Flash tune.
