Sounds like they installed the bshaft kit and left the rear oiling hole lined up because they did not install the blockoff bearings which dropped oil pressure to next to nothing and you lost the engine bearings leading to catastrophic engine failure.

This is my theory.

Maria,

something wasnt done right here, and I think it has to do with the install process and procedure of the BSE kit. I know that the BSE kit install is somewhat complicated, definately more involved than doing cams and a timing belt. Good luck getting this sorted out.

Of course, upgraded the whole exhaust system up to the GT Spec manifold. HKS RS intake, ARP headstuds, HKS 272s, TurboXS intercooler plus pipings,Walbro 255 fuel pump and cusco twin disk. I still have a stock turbo. I was tuned for HKS BOV non-recirculated in 2006. Since then, never got tuned and converted to circulated APS BOV this year./////Yeah, i did set my boost that high.

even with those mods, I dont think would cause anything as catastrophic as a hole in the block. I'm guessing there has to be some install error or some foul play here....

*footnote*
but still on the other hand, even with mods, I think getting a tune would have been a good thing to do to be on the safe side.

I really need your opinions on a situation that happened to my evo last tuesday. I had my evo a little over 4 years-->first owner and had only bolt-ons.

This year i hit the 60k mark so decided to follow the 60k maintenance. I provided the HKS timing belt/HKS cam gears and left the shop to do the rest. They did what was included in the 60k;however, i added the AMS balance shaft elimination on my 2.0. Picked up the car on 7/25 then on 7/28(3 days later) after work, i started the engine then seconds later i heard fire works under my hood. Saw a hole from the block. Could this be due to wrong timing??? I daily drive the car to work but hardly push it everyday. Confused to what happen to my perfect evo?

Your feedback will gladly be appreciated. Thanks!
Could it be they didn't install the timing belt correctly?

I remember some big name saying on here that the balance shaft eliminator kit has blown more engines than saved.

To the OP: I'd go thorough on what could have been done wrong and make sure that if you're the one paying for the rebuild, there's no chance it blew up because of installation error.

In no way would installing the belt wrong result in a exploded rod and block. I would say TTP's theory is the most likely cause of failure. Especially since you started it up and it blew up. If you were driving it hard and something exploded then it could well be the tune or something else.

Sorry about ur motor, GL with the rebuild!

+1 on this. you should get some pics of it! and tell them you want to see the cover and shaft when the engine is out.
