TD06 Upgrade

Hey Guys,

I've been offered a TD06 at about the equivalent of $600USD. This looks to be a total bargain, and I trust the guy who is selling it to me.

My questions are though:

1) Will it increase lag all that much?

2) Will I see much increase in power?

Thanks!

I know the Td06-20G was a great turbo on the eclipse's, i really dont' know if it would work though with an EVO. Then again i dont' know much about the EVO VI either. If it is not a twin scroll from the factory, it probably would work great. If it is a twin scroll, it probably won't work correctly. Someone i know tried a FP Green turbo (which is a fantastic DSM turbo, i had one on my eclipse) on an EVO VIII but i just didn't work right because of the whole single scroll/twin scroll design issue. they gained HP, but the lag was such an issue, they put the stock turbo back on.

Hi Rez90,

Thanks for the reply. I had a look at the manifold from the Evo 6, and it's twin scroll. Unfortunately the TD06 isn't twin scroll, so it's not a straight bolt in the first place.

I think I'll just have to extrude hone and hi-flow the existing turbo.

Sunder,

If you are interested I could fabricate a manifold to work with the TD05 if you are interestd. The twin scroll technology is in the stock manifold. You would be able to use the TD05 if you replaced the manifold with a aftermarket manifold.

All of my manifolds are tubular equal length manilfolds and are made of 321 stainless only. Just something to keep in mind if you really want to use the turbo.

Mate....

The stock turbo *is* the TD05, and so the stock manifold works with it. I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Sunder,

I apologize, it was a typo. I meant TD06. I just build a custom kit for a 20g on a 1g DSM. Although the configuration would be somewhat different it is definately possible.
