Ok guys this may be a stupid question. I have a built head with 1mm oversized vavles, super tech springs and retainers, it also has kelford 280 cams. Would this head work on the stock shortblock since the valve reliefs in the pistons are not as big as they were on my built 2.3?

People do built heads on the stock block all of the time.. so simply put, yes it will work.

+1 Also if it will make you feel better, I would hand crank the engine over first before you start it. That way you know your fine!

+1, as long as they don't touch and you feel zero contact while turning it over, I would think you'd be fine. FWIW MAP wanted to put +1mm valves in my head when I had them go through it, and I was not building the bottom end.

Who did the head? Ask them I guess.
