Is this normal? will I only benefit from my parts after a tune?
I tought that i will at least get a car difference gap against the BMW which was the same before and after the mods.

How do you know you gained nothing??? Racing a BMW and not walking him silly after 2 bolt on parts does not count.

Just get tuned and you will be happy.

A tune is the only way you will optimize any parts, you can't just bolt stuff on and expect to have a big power gain.

Dude... A FMIC with your power level does not give you gains.. the LICP will give you very MINIMAL gains .. especially without any tune.. Get a tune ..

Maybe i shouldnt judge on the race but many evo owners say that they feel the difference from a LICP, and I honostly didnt feel the fast spool nor the hard pull.
Anyways, I really thank you all for your possitive replys.
I think the tune is the key here!

Your next Mod should be a Tactrix Cable so you can log and then email those data logs to a tuner. He (ECU Tuner) then can tune your car to your specs.

+1. You didn't see much of an improvement because you're evo is practically stock and running at boost levels that the stock fmic is capable of handling. Once you get a boost controller, a tune, and a few more boltons, the intercooler will start to pick up the slack, and it will make it much easier on your tuner not having to squeeze power out of a heatsoaked stock fmic. Your choice in mods was a good one, but you did it out of order really. Once the more basic boltons are applied the intercooler will start to show benefits over stock.

I am thinking of getting Cobb's testpipe. however, I heard that after using a testpipe the check engine light will glow! How will I prevent this from happening, and if it does happen, is it that bad? I mean, my friend got an evo 9 with a catless TBE and the check engine is always on.. he never bothered to get it fixed!!

There should be two things you learned so far. First and foremost, don't listen to guys like this:

They provide no facts. I learned early on in my car days that on EVERY car forum there are only a small number of people who you should actually listen to. The rest just make subjective statements.

The second lesson was what many in this thread mentioned; Tuning. That's one of the most important things you need to do. You will waste a lot of money on parts if you don't.

Hope after you get your car tuned, it gets faster.

even without a tune it should allow for 2-3 more psi with no ill effects since the fmic will condense the air more and the car should be less knock prone. you obviously need to get tuned or you wont ever make good power. after a tune and a good mbc youll put bus length's on that bmw.

When you add a bigger intercooler, you just added volume to your whole system. It holds more air (to cool it down more efficiently). You need to be pushing a higher psi to fill it up quicker and feel more gains. A tune + MBC + 25psi, and you'll definitely feel it. The stock intercooler is usually good to 350whp. Until then you don't get much of a gain off of an intercooler unless you're heat soaking it from tracking the car.

Do yourself a favor and get a tune + mbc. Then and only then will those types of mods start to pay off.

You can't just add on parts and get gains. A tune must be used to optimize everything, especially when dealing with the turbo system. This isn't a honda man.

Especially on 1.2 bar! You won't see much with minimal boost levels. You will be happy once you pass 26psi and need it.
