Anyone else drooling over the AEM EMS?

Personally, I can't wait for this system to come out for the Evo, it sure beats going in for a reflash every time you change something on your car. Would anyone here be down for a group buy on it?

Joe

Its not as great as it sounds... Its definetly awesome if you REALLY know what your doing (I blew a car up that had an AEM ) but it takes a long time to get tuned right. If you want to change your settings for race day you should have a nice set of gauges and wideband...which costs extra cash.

The EMS is an awesome unit, but let me give you the warning I've given everyone else.

Do not buy a standalone ECU unless:

1. You're experienced with them and/or extremely well versed in engine and sensor functions. At very least a qualified shop and some money will cover this too.

2. You can afford to have down time on your car.

There's a lot more pros than cons imo, but be very aware of the consequences of going standalone. If you need support, check out the AEM EMS forums. The usual crew there is awesome.

To be noted: I have one slot left on the group buy...
And yes, its not for everyone...but for those who invest the time and money; the results will be worth it!

Just would like to build off of Hobie's post...

Flashes and piggybacks are for the average guy out there (like me) who do not test and tune these cars DAILY like Buschur or Vishnu.

They make these products for us so that we don't have to spend every waking moment of our weekends and nights tuning our cars. It's their livelyhood.

A system like the AEM requires a lot of know-how and common sense to tune correctly. For you folks out there who do not know a lot about cars, I personally would not recommend getting something like the AEM just because it's the biggest, baddest thing on the market.

Be smart, and most of all, don't blow up your cars! I like reading success stories on here, not failures!

The EMS forums are hugely helpful if you're willing and able to learn about the EMS and engine function. Expect a lot of street tuning, trial and error, and ALWAYS, ALWAYS save changes in maps as different files. Again though, awesome unit, but make sure you know what you're getting into. It's essentially a GEMS with a slightly different interface.

Keep in mind you can pay a tuner to tune the baseline maps. Thats what my friend did for his civic. 300Whp - stock 1.6L.

I am not excited about it, and if I do ever get one it will be one of my last mods. On a other very funny note A stock 1.6L with just an AEM EMS putting down 300WHP oh and a stock, remember "stock" JDM B16 might put down 145-155WHP. So with just one mod you doubled the WHP with out forced induction . WOW thats a good one

Stock engine. 10Psi with a Vortech w/ Aftercooler. I could go on, but this thread isn't about civics.
