RMR is 3", HKS is 2.65". Pick which one will make you feel better when you brag! This is one of those things where you'll get everyone's personal brand fave. I have the RMR, but I am sure the HKS is good, too. I happened to live right near RMR, so that helped me decide.

I have an HKS down-pipe. I was very pleased with the results. The turbo spools quicker and you can feel the power increase.
Had to get a fuel-cut defenser right after that though.

I used to live in Huntington Beach, about 1/2 mile from the RMR shop. I had all of my work done there. I would recommend them highly. They work with HKS, too, so whichever way you go, they can help. They did all of the work on the Fast & the Furious DVD Evo over at the HKS shop.

You can't really compare the two since the piping size is different. I got the HKS downpipe because I plan on keeping the rest of the exhaust stock. There was no point for me to get a 3" dp because the stock cat is 2.5" (unless you port the flange out to 3" which I am not even sure you can do). Correct me if I am wrong, but you can't fit one of the stock under braces with RMR's dp (thus RMR offers an underbrace). Both downpipe are a single piece mendral pipe DP with thick flanges and SS so you can't go wrong with either. It depends on what you plan to do later down (ie bigger turbo, it would be best to go with the 3" dp etc).

i say go with RMR 3". I wouldn't waste my money with a 2.65". Just make sure you wrap that downpipe. Or better yet, grab UR's, they have a thermal wrap option.

BoostedMike, the piping greatly reduces that temperature, do you know by how much!

?? not sure what you mean. but the downpipe sits soooo very close under the oil pan, thermal wrapping will definitely aid in keeping it from severely heating up the oil pan. how much temp? that i'm not sure...but it's a damn good thing to have.

no problemo dude. PM if you have any more questions. I think most 3" downpipes are pretty much the same with little differences. i have the ultimate racing one wrapped. in my opinion it's the best one (granted i've never tried any other). From my experience and most others, the UR downpipe clears the two lower ties bars and also includes a flex section. those were two key factors when i purchased. plus...most of their customers seem to get damn good times at the drag strip.

The HKS is 2.75" not 2.65. The RMR is only needed for large horsepower cars. If you do not plan on adding a ton of power go with HKS. With 2.75 you will not loose that much low end power like with the RMR. With the larger size of the RMR you will gain more top end power. I would buy the HKS only because I do not plan to have 400 plus whp. I also like HKS much more then RMR.
