I think I have way to much boost happening
Ok this is what happened. I uploaded everything from your website onto my laptop. Then I use the suppplied cabel to connect with the xede. I opened Xupdate because I wanted to first try the updated 93 oct.+ downpipe program to see if that would change anything. I figure it would also be the best base for tuning anyway for my application. Anyway, it kept telling me that my com1 port was in use. Then i went into change ports, tried to change it and it said com 1 port in use even though I choose Com 3? I am stuck and need some help. I tried calling the shop but nobody answered? What is my next step now? Or how do I get this thing atleast connected first?

Are you using XUpdate or XMap? Use XMAP since it is fully featured tuning software. XUpdate is only a a downloading and viewing software. It's outdated and about to be removed from the website. In other words, XMAP does everything XUpdate does (downloading, viewing, etc,.) PLUS user tuning, datalogging, etc,.
If you still have communication problem with XMAP, it sounds like you'll need to reconfigure you computer ports which is unusual. If you need support and you can't get a hold of me, you can also post on our forum at:

Shiv,
I had just spoken with one of your co-workers (can't remember which one Ken/Bret) he didn't really know what was going on also, but nice and tried to help. At first I tried to use XUpdate, then XMap. Now I'll just stick with getting XMap working. Not sure why I am having com port problems but we'll see. I'm going to try something different then I'll call back. Thanks for the quick replies.

wow impressive. thanks for the tutorial. i wrote another post about the same issue, with my friends xede. i am going to go fix his after my 8 hours of class. :-p... i guess we have to do some test runs while i stare at his boost gauge, to find out when he is overboosting.. shiv. what bars should the highest that he should be hitting with the xede setup.? 20-21 psi?

FYI:
COM1 and COM3
and
COM2 and COM4 are tied together.
So changing from 1 to 3 isn't going to work. =)
Your COM1/3 is probably being used by a modem, mouse, or other outdated port device.
Btw, is there a cable available from Vishnu that goes from the XEDE chip to a USB connection? That would be preferred. COM ports are so outdated some computers no longer come with them.
It's all about USB 2.0 and IEEE-1394 PYRO (Firewire).

All taken care of thanks to Shiv. He helped me with my tune and my com port problem. It was the laptop I was using that was the problem. After I changed out laptops I was in action. The XMap worked awesome. I changed my boost settings acrossed the board and actually tuned it in too low at first. This is the first time I have ever tuned with a programable piggyback and it was pretty easy. I see now why it's so important to have a tune on a dyno with this. Can't wait till Shiv comes to Chi-town

Yes, it should work without a glitch. Even with the plug-in harness. The baseline maps won't be appropriate since the EVO 7 GSR ECU is very different from the US EVO 8 ECU in terms of fuel and spark advance mapping. I compared the two last night and the differences were substantial.

Interesting! A lot of us Evo owners in the caribbean are looking towards the US market for tuner parts nowadays!
Do you know what #RON petrol the Evo 7 GSR has maps for? We are currently running on 95 RON (nothing better is available here). Thanks for your info so far.

Ever since I installed my xede i always felt like I was running to much boost. Is this bad? I have been running this way for probably a month. How bad is this, and what shoud I do? Shiv any help here? I know that this isn't a good thing. My vac reads like -26,27 also (is this normal?), what the heck is going on? My mods are below can someone shed some light here. Shiv, Quantum, Z1 what the heck may be the problem?
