Help! Loud Pop After Spark Plug Change

Hello

I just changed my spark plugs, following these instructions exactly https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ark-plugs.html

I put everything back together, and as soon as I start my car POP! POP! Really loudly. I turned off the car right away, but I have no idea what happened.. I thought this was supposed to be a fairly simple process?

I have an Evo IX, modded, I've been on stock spark plugs, and the spark plugs I ordered were stock as well, from AMS.

Anyone know what happened??

Does the popping mean they're too closely gapped, too far, etc? I wonder if it caused damage..

He has a IX, the iridiums should be pre-gapped. Are the coils all the way down, and plugged in?

Do you guys think I switched around the coil packs? Does that matter? i just put them back in whichever way because I assumed they were the same.. are they?

Not sure if it matters, but the correct way is the pair with the long wires are for cyl #1+#4 (far left and right) and the pair with the short wire is for #s 2 and 3.

They don't look exactly the same.

See pic

I have a DLi on in this pic, disregard the extra wiring but pay attention to how the coilpacks are routed and how the "short" pair goes in the middle.
