Intro & Mod questions

Hi,

I am fairly new to Evo community, coming Acura's family and E46 M3. A week after I sold my M3 on June'09, I found a 2003 WW Evo VIII locally (Northern California). I called him up & made an appointment the same day. The car has about 103K miles on the body but 16K miles on the stroker. Btw, it was my first time driving an Evo and it wasn't fun driving a stroker w/ stage 2 clutch. One thing I could remember though I was totally amazed. To make a long story short, I bought the car that day, hehehe....

I think the car is pretty much built. Starting from 2.2L Cosworth Shortblock and CNC ported head stage II w/ Cosworth Cams, ETS intercooler Kit, Exedy Twin Plate Clutch, Works TBE, Zeal B-6 Coilovers, 750cc RC Injectors, ...

However, the car is still running on a tired stock Evo VIII turbo (over 100K miles). I've been searching for a new turbo. The goal is to have a STEALTH look. I have narrowed it down to either BBK or FP Green/Red. I'm going towards more to either BBK or FP Red. Should I wait for the new development BBK or just go with FP Red? The car will be my DD and I would like to be able to take it to a track or drag sometimes. Any suggestions? I really appreciate it. Thanks.

wow this question gets asked way to much depends how you going to use the car. if your dragging then i would not get the current bbk as it was not designed really for that autox road coarse really. The fp red is a all around preformer as you know people have gone into the 9s with it of course that on a fully gutted car but still. As for the New bbk dont know yet only theories until it comes out nobody knows. so if your looking to buy now hands down the fp red but if your willing to wait to at least see what the new bbk turbo holds then hold off and if your not impressed then get a fp red or if you like cop the new bbk

Im sure that motor has seen greater then the "stock" turbo...Just because of the build on the motor already. With a FP Red on that motor you should see very nice results and a mean street car w/great spool. Easily around 500whp depending on fuel, boost, etc. Goodluck.

What I hear about the new BBK (one of the local evo's has the prototype), it makes 20-30 extra whp later on the curve than the current BBK. As far as drag, I am not trying to be a pro but I would like to get a nice number in the 11's perhaps.

This motor has not seen other turbos except stock. So you guys saying with FP Red, I shouldn't worry about having much issues with it? Thanks,

I have never seen a BBK in person so I can't comment on it much, but we have seen our fair share of FPRed turbochargers and they seem to work out great! We have had several customers over 500whp on E-85.

What type of fuel do you plan on running? Glad to see our intercooler =) Sounds like your going to have one fast evo!

If you have any questions, let us know!

Thanks,

Michael

I'm planning to run on 91 and E-85. My only worries are the reliability of FP Red, but from what I have seen here, I think FP Red will do just good
