First off, has anybody experienced failure with the tranny bell housing? It appears as though the part of the housing that the pin for the clutch fork slides into broke off the housing. I've just got an ACT nothing major and no major HP mods. Was wondering if this has happened to anybody else. As a side, I'm wondering if the 6 speed tranny is the same across the evo 8 - evo 9 line? Can I put a 6 speed bell housing from an evo 8 MR onto a evo 9 MR tranny?

FWIW: I wasn't even racing when this happened. I was in the drive-thru line at DQ for an ice cream when I went to put it into 1st to move up, i heard a *ping* and the clutch pedal went to the floor. Needless to say, I never got my frozen treat

 

Drag! Id leave my car broke down in line and go in to get the treat. Oreo blizzard is priority over trans.

But no man that sucks, makes me nervous that might happen to me.

 

As far as I know, there is no difference between the Evo 8 and 9 gearbox cases. Only the gearsets have been changed from 5 to 6, but unfortunately for the Evo 9 owners, using the same case. So, if you can, you might want to swap with a 5 speed Evo 8 gearbox completely...

 

Ended up just ordering brand new bell housing... Probably try and take my old housing into the lab to see if i can't figure out what the heck happened...

 

What's the powertrain warranty on these things?

 

What happened to you "sucks". I cant seem to steer into conclusion, as what may be the cause of the problem. How many miles after installation of that clutch?
