Injector Placement Discussion

So since I am always up for a test of new ideas, last night with my evening free I went down to the dyno and did some testing with moving the injectors. I happen to have a Magnus Cast Dual rail, so I pulled my ID2000s from the bottom rail and moved them to the top rail.

As a note, I realised the manifold wasnt intended for this, but it was the only way I could test my concept and see what would happen. I started tuning the car at low boost and made around 490whp (all numbers Std correction/smoothing 5) at 23psi. I upped the boost back up to the funner level and was around 531 or so at 27. I managed the boost and logged it to make sure their werent any sudden changes in boost level. I got the timing, MIVEC, and everything dialed back in to where it should be and saw a best of 540/383 at 27psi.

I noticed there must be some reversion in the intake manifold since it was never intended to be used this way. I had a choppy idle and inconsistent afr below 2k rpm and it cleared up as soon as the engine revved above that. With everything set I swapped them back to the lower rail. I want to emphasize that I made no changes in boost, timing, MIVEC, etc. all I did was move the injectors back after tuning it.

Idle was back to normal, low rpm accel (1000 to 2000rpm) was normal, and the car made 548/391 at 27psi. I know we havent talked about secondary injector placement too much since the ITB intake thread, but I thought talking about moving the primaries might be more interesting. This means my car was on track for a little more than last time it was on the dyno at its normal 29psi but it was getting late so I headed home before I made anymore pulls. I might get back to that testing later though since I have another thought on atomisation vs power. The newer generation of injectors such as the FIC 900, ID1000/2000, etc. use the new Bosch EV14 injectors that mist more than spray like some of the older designs.

Thoughts?
