Rear Differential

recently replaced my rear differential.
but now the one i have makes this noise.
when changing gears like from 1-2,2-3.....you hear this loud knock from the back diff..

anyone have any ideas on what the problem can be...

why did you have to replace your stock diff?
i hear some knocking when shifting from 1-2

got into an accident and my mechanic advised to not take the chance and use the old diff as I may see problems later on.
so i replaced it.

the noise is really scary though.it makes me drive slow cause it sounds like something could break

I see ur running an Evo VII, did you install the rear diff with YAW? Or did they open up the diff and change gears and what nots..?

Check the u-joints, sounds like one of them is done for.

will check the u-joints and if that doesnt work out the last resort would be to try the old one...

Improper lash/backlash adjustment. Your pinion to yoke gear tolerances are probably too great. It needs to be checked with marking compound on the gears to verify proper gear contact.

If that sounds like a foreign language to you, your mechanic will know what I am saying. Just print it out and show him.
