Question Oil leak after turbo swap!!! HELP

So i just threw another stock viii turbo in the evo and i have developed a minor oil leak however i cannot figure out where it is coming from, after i take it out for a spirited drive i come back and there is some oil on the bottom of the oil pan i have not noticed this until i changed the turbo so obviously i check the oil feed and return to and from the turbo but they look dry and i cannot find a trail the oil may have drained from any help is greatly appreciated

Probably oil return line, may be it's an old leak from before.

You said you checked the return line at the turbo, did you check it where it goes back into the pan?

The connection from the return line to the pan is a known problem leak on the 4g, if you dont get that thing sealed and tightened up well it always will have that slow annoying leak.

I would jack the car up, spray it down with degreaser, start the car, and watch for leaks.

Throw the car on some jack stands or a lift if you have access to one and spray some degreaser(simple green) over the oil pan and return line clean it out well then while the car is in the air let it idle and see if you can spot where its coming from. Good luck.

This leak is ninja, i have tried all of these things, it will not leak unless i drive it around for about a mile it will idle all day without leaking i thought it was the return line the dealer gave me a paper type gasket and the one that came off of it was a metal type maybe it is leaking from there some how? or should i try and put some rtv sealant on it?

I used hi-temp copper gasket maker stuff. It's held up fine for 6 months now. I check it every time I'm under the car. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, I had lost the stock gasket and no way to get to the dealership.

It could be one of the two bolts in the return line/oil pan interface. They are easy to strip, or cross thread.

Did you pull them out and inspect the threads on both bolts before retorquing? Also, make sure that you use a new factory gasket.

I'd drain the crankcase oil into a clean recipient so as to be able to reuse the oil. Pull the oil drain line off completely. Replace the both top and bottom oil drain pipe flange gaskets as well as all four bolts with new factory bits. Clean all mating surfaces with carb cleaner. Retorque with a 1/4" drive, in./lb. torque-o-meter. You've gotta hope that a bolt is stripped and not the internal threads on the pan. Or, it may be something else completely. Whatever it is...I do hope that you track it down. Good Luck!

Of course, I am fairly analistic.

Could be the little washers for the return tube also as these have a rubberized portion...
