The springs are not a contributing factor to lockout. Even EXEDY twins have springs in the discs.

Choosing the proper model pressure plate, disc, spring configuration, disc material type and friction coefficient, size, disc weight and overall clutch and flywheel weights all contribute to the shifting and driveability experience.
