What should be done first? (Head or Block)
Just wondering what is better to get done first? Head work done first or Block work done?
What steps do most of you do?
I know must of you are going to say head. Right? Because the more air and fuel you let the more HP you will get.
But some might say the block. A good rod a piston combo with good bearings.
Just want to see some of your thoughts on this.
Thank you all for taken the time to read this.

With my build I started with the block. The reason behind that was to get close or surpass the power I wanted with the safety of a "built" block. As the old saying goes "You can never have enough hp" It's much easier to take the head off than to pull the entire engine, but some might disagree.
After my recent adventure, I have to vote for block:

This was on stock turbo and just over 400 awhp

Damn that sucks!
Im glad i'm not on a stock block..
I always did headwork on my 4g's first, then I would blow the bottom end and half the time trash the head I just built... If I could do it all over, I would do bottom end first.
The block. With a good block you can go very highin terms or power reliably than with the head. The good head you won't be able to utilize unless you have a good block that you can push in terms of boost and revs.
The only thing I would do head wise is cams and valvetrain so I can rev high.
If I remember Dynoflash made wound 800whp on the stock head.

You can look up my build from a while back as mine had a spun balance shaft bearing so i built the block and left the head alone due to budget.
My car runs consistant 10 sec passes at over 140mph.
I'd say the stock head is pretty darn good
However if i did have the funds i'd do both at the same time i hate cracking open a motor if it's not needed!
This is probably why i have yet to run a 9 sec pass

I would always suggest the block.. You can drop in some valves real quick for cheap when you do the block.. the stock block is not going to support the extra HP by doing the head anyway.. Id much prefer a built bottom and bone stock no port head..
