Avid Motor mounts - Replace the sides with Stock?
Avid Motor mounts - Replace the sides with Stock?
The car already had all four Avid billet motor mounts in the car when I bought it. Great for drag racing - terrible for daily driving. The dash rattles like crazy.
The question is - which should be returned to stock? My friend says do the sides stock and keep the front and rear since they do not connect dircetly to the unibody. The car has cams which thrash a little as well.
I was initially thinking of replacing all four with stock but that might be too soft with the amount of power the car is making.
There is also the possibility of poly mounts in a few places in place of the billet.
I am Basically wanting a good combo for perfomance but something that will not rattle the car to pieces and quiet things down a bit.
On another note - is it possible to take the dash pad off and tighten some things down or put dampening material in the dash to solve some of the developed rattles?
any help would be appreicated!

i just had my avid motormounts put in this past fri, but only the front and the sides and not the rear. i absolutely love them, car seems to run tighter (can't explain) but i do get a "rattle" in the cabin but only when the car is idle. i know the "race" application includes the "rear" mount and i was told that installing that with the other 3 would make the rattle ridiculous. i hope that my experience helps...if not, get a hold of victor at avid racing...number is 1-866-507-AVID (2843)

i can tell you that having it in the rear as well adds lots of rattle. This is helpful. I would have thought to keep the rear and front and replace the sides as I stated above. It seems like perhaps replacing all three with stock and keep the front might be an option or go with poly mounts in the mix somewhere but what I have will not work for a driver.
have the same mounts and had the same problem, take out the back mount next ot the powersteering rack, i had all 4 car was unbeleavable to drive took out the back mount and was 80 times better car feels tight no motor floping back and forth and no crazy dash rattle
