cleaning the head
I have a 100% complete head for sale. How do I clean and degrease the head to prepare it for shipping? I was thinking about just spraying it with water and letting it dry but I don't want it to rust. Any other options are welcome.
Brake cleaner works really well. The head is made from aluminum so it won't rust (but it can corrode). After cleaning it the head will be fine dry for a while, but if its going into long-term storage coating it in a light spray of fogging oil would be a good idea. If the cams are still in it coat the lobes in engine assembly lube. Don't forget to remove and bleed the lifters too since they hold a lot of oil.

So I use the brake cleaner let it soak then spray it with water? I really want it shiny and clean. I'm here for the customer.
Thanks, I want to clean and pack it and put it in the for sale section. So I don't know how long it'll be until sells.
