No boost till 4th and 5th Gear

Mod list is as follows full 3" TBE, LICP, Forge Split BOV, Ingalls engine damper, eibach pro kit and boost gauge. Car has 81,000 miles. Last part i installed was the bov which was 1 month ago.

So i just started having this issue last week (10/5/09). When i go threw the gears like normal driving my boost gauge never sees any boost, always stops at 0 even if my rpms go up to 4, 5 and 6k. But this is only in gears 1 thru 3, once i go into 4th or 5th the boost builds normally.

If i go full throttle i can build boost (it spikes straight to 20lbs and stays there) in every gear. But in 2nd and 3rd if im in boost and get off the throttle and put the clutch in the rpms continue to go up another 1-2k like im reving the motor (when im not) and then drop like they should normally.

Im looking for some more ideas beside do a boost leak test. I will be doing that but also would like more options to check. I'm thinking it could be a leak or something with the wastegate, possibly maybe with the clutch as well? I never had any issue like this with the dsm's i've had in the past 7 years. Thanks ahead of time for the help!

EDIT: 10/18/09 boost leak test found no leaks, switching bov didnt solve problem. wastegate was good. Problem ended up being the clutch. Thanks for the help!

check for any leaks or anything that you might have forgotten to tighten or came loose.

are you sure your not building boost, does the car feel real slow compared to before , are you relying on a guage. maybe change the guage out.

BOV might not be sealing all the way under part throttle, probably dumping boost back into the turbo inlet and acting as a large pressure loss.

It is not about reving, it is about putting a load on the engine to make the turbo boost. Go down hill and go uphill while maintaining the same speed ie(5th gear at 75mph) and see what is up.

you should look into your BOV.

I dont think that can be the problem cuz is only doin it on 2nd and 3rd and with partial throttle, if it was the bov it will do it in every gear so i will say is a vacum leak or wastegate problem...

he never said anything about other gears at part throttle, just 2nd and 3rd....
if your part throttle is can surely cause you bov to stick open which will cause the problems he described

he said when hes full throttle its spikes to 20psi which is pretty normal... so im willing to be the bov is the problem. if it has a way to adjust the spring, id try to adjust it so its softer, that would help
