Hey everybody, i'm new to the evo scene, but i've been a long time car enthusiast. My built rsx got totaled so i'm looking into evos or stis. I found an evo for a decent price, but it has a buncha mods done to it...i wanted to know what you guys think of these parts...some of them i've never heard of such as ultimate racing, DNP, and RMR. I also wanted to know was it really more beneficial to through coilovers on an evo...i know they come with bilstein stock so i always figure lowering springs would be good enough...idk though, lmk what you guys think....

looks to be a bunch of show type accessories. My opinion a downpipe is a downpipe and an intercooler is and intercooler. I mean if it handles the job the companies name doesnt make it better nor increase hp. I cant say that these upgrades would really affect the performance of the car. speakers, dvd player custom trunk, blue hose kit. Now if your were speaking cams, turbo or engine thats another concern. I think you good with these mods. Go with the EVO you wont be disappointed

 

Some of those mods are kind of pricey. Sure they would be good though.

Coilovers tend to be firmer than just springs, but i would get them if you plan on taking the car to the track alot. Springs will be good for street. A lot of peeps like the swift springs.

 

true, but i guess i should specicify. I'm more concerned about the DNP turbo manifold/works throttle body/work ecu reflash/and ultimate racing intercooler...does anybody have any ideas about these brands (i.e. are they reliable)? I know where you're coming from with names don't matter as long as the parts do it's job...but some say you get what you pay for...and generally i follow this.

 

Don't know about the manifold but the only two I would put on my car are ETS or Full-Race.
HKS BOV isn't needed, stock valve works great with no issues.
The OEM Mitsu 3 piece gauge set cost too much, I'd go with Defi or something like that.
Intercooler and pipe set up is fine but I'd go with the ETS 3.5'' FMIC kit. (This is what I run)

 

yeah sounds more like a show car then a go car. usually with evos, every mod is to make the car go faster. just hope the previous owner knows how to take care of his evo. gl
