I was looking into some s1 cams because they have the potential to sound like a stock evo idling, but I'd rather go with s2 or kelford 272 cams for the power. I have a stock turbo and no plans really of upgrading. Ive heard a lot of things on 272 cams sounding like a stock cammed car at idle but I'm not sure I believe that. So my question is, who's gotten a mivec engine to idle with kelford or s2 cams to where it sounds stock?

 

have you seen the reports of kelford on mivec snapping, I am getting them for my evo 8 but with mivec I would reconsider, fyi

 

I have heard about that issue. Idle was my main concern, so I went with the HKS 272s. I would rather sacrifice a little power and be able to live with the idle than gain an extra 15 or so horses and have trouble with it.

I am not saying the idle on the s2 or kelfords is unbearable, I am sure they can be tamed with a good tune, but I just decided to play it safe...

 

I'm running the GSC S2 -> they kick ***; drivability, good peak numbers and you can barely tell the cams aren't stock (as long as the mivec is tuned correctly.)
