So is that what they said is needed for yours Supersal

I take it that rattling noise on shut-down was not normal then

What else did they have to say?

Sorry for your woes as i know you are very far away from PTE

Heya Patrick - not sure if its an issue or not but my installer sugested I try and get a rebuild kit and he can sort it out for me rather than risk damaging the billet wheel.

But when we enquired via Mike that was the feedback...

Yeah we in Africa so shipping a turbo to PTE and back is not viable for us. So my only option is to take the risk and run it like it is.

SO the turbo was damaged as received?

If that's the case, Precision should be covering shipping.

Hey guys just updating this thread as i finally had time to review the turbo.

Sorry to say Sal but mine does not have any wierd sounds coming from it on shut down nor any other time

It sounds like you may have gotten a dud???

Mine sounds like a typical bb turbo w/ a almost a blower whine to it at idle......and on shut-down it makes no other noise but keeps on spinning...............forever lol.

1 thing that they did not w/ the install was to make sure to use at minumum -10 (5/8') for the drain line.

I will try and either add on to this thread or will start a new one to compare my old 35R to the new 6262 once i get the dyno graphs from our tuner Sean Burgess.

For now here is a thread i started in the drag section so you can see the real-world effects of the swap.

Thanks Pat, well at least I know for sure now...

Maybe it will last a week or maybe it will last a year or longer...

Will just monitor the ticking sound to see if it gets louder - but I would buy ano 6262 its an awsome turbo...

Congrats again!

Supersal i hope you can get your turbo fixed. To my understanding Precision had been using Garretts center section and bearing set up forever but i guess some how they either lost their contract with Garrett or something else went down and this is why the ceramic air cooled center sections are here. If someone knows something else please correct me. They must be making their own cause it is not a Turbonetic or the triple ceramic bearing form Comp Turbo. Hopefully this is just a fluke since the PTE billet wheel 6262 has proven to make awesome power.

Yes i def hope for Supersal's sake that it is just an isolated incident.

If i were you Sal i'd try my best to contact your most local Precision rep to see if they can at least met you halfway so that you get a turbo that's is 100% fault free.

Maybe if you send them some info and maybe a video clip of it producing the noise they may be able to send one out to you in x-change for yours so they could diagnose it to prevent other furture problems for that line of turbo

Really would hope that PTE would make good on it.......

Thanks guys, local Precision agent is a friend of mine but because we didnt bring in the turbo through him it makes things pretty difficult...

Don't really feel like pulling the turbo off again unless I need to - but your advice makes sense, I should look at getting it sorted before it becomes a problem.

Sorry for the delay i've been meaning to post up a graph of the updated tune w/ the 6262 on but have been lagging

I'm sorry but i can't give you an exact figure as we adjusted the tune at the track as it was a plenty rich as it tends to be off the dyno.

Sean made a couple changes that significantly changed the feel of the car.

I'll get the dyno graph posted up of the 2 turbos side by side runnning the same boost pressure (38) in another thread.

Keep an eye out for it
