A lag monster is spawned! (cam timing)
Huh?
The ignition timing comes from the crank shaft position sensor. Isn't the cam position sensor only used to determine which cylinder is supposed to fire and what injector to fire when in sequential mode?

Hmmm...I will have to doublecheck, I thought it referenced both. I know the older DSMs had both in the CAS, the 95-96 was in the intake cam gear ,and the 97 up was more like ours. I only mentioned that because I just did an Evo/2G ECU swap and base timing was affected by the CAS even though I was only using cam position from the CAS.
I could be wrong though. I will withhold comment until I have done further testing.

On a 2g or an EVO, cam timing does not affect ignition timing. On a 1g with the crank sensor also on the cam, it does. I made this mistake on the dyno with my RWD. Pulled the intake cam back 4 degrees, which was an 8 degree timing retard. Oops.
No affect on EVOs, which is what lulled me into complacency and led to this boneheaded mistake.

Hey guys, saw a broken link here and wanted to share the right link.
