Bad Bish and a few quick dyno pulls with new stroker-amazing
I've been bored out of my mind lately. Today I decided to throw the car on the dyno and do a little tuning and just get the car close so I can drive it when the weather warms up.
I only got a few pulls in and had to leave to pick up some stuff for my ethanol project. This is the 5th pull I made this morning. The first 4 were worthless, I can't tell if the car is spinning the tires or the clutch is slipping.
This pull is in 4th gear at only 31.8 psi of boost. The boost is as low as it will on waste gate with the controller turned down all the way. The dip in the 5,000 rpm range is where the AFR's were 10.0:1. As I said, it's not done being tuned by a long shot.
Now for some crazy *** data. This blows my mind. In 3rd, as I said I thought I was dealing with clutch slippage. I tried 4th gear, which I normally never do in this car and the pull is stable and the clutch holds fine. So maybe it's wheel spin I'm dealing with in 3rd.
The response on this combination is off the hook. In 3rd gear with the wheel spin or clutch slippage I am seeing 20 psi at 4618 rpm. In 4th with no wheel spin/slippage I am seeing 20 psi at an ASTONISHING 4099 rpm! That is absolutely NUTS!!! This makes this the best spooling 35r I've ever had on this dyno and this is NOT twin scroll.
The car is not even close to being tuned, while I don't think the power will improve much the curve will get fatter and nicer when I get rid of the 10:1 AFR's in the mid range. I have the FP HTA86 on the car with a Tial .82 A/R turbine housing and a BR ported JDM stock EVO8 intake manifold. I'm running E98 in the car. Cams are our BF272's.
I need more time, tomorrow may be the day. I'll have to dial the tune in closer and get someone to watch to see if it's wheel spin or clutch slippage and then I can finish up the tuning. Once I get this dialed in completely I have the new header I just built for the car with smaller runners and our new intake manifolds are done being welded from Shearer. I want to try both of those.
Let me get to the part you are waiting for. 725 whp and 581 ft lbs at only 31 psi. The car his 500 ft lbs at about 4300 rpm and has 518 ft lbs still at 7500 rpm. I wasn't paying attention but I was running the car out to 8500 rpm and didn't notice I had the dyno only capturing data up to 7500 rpm. Luckily this is just initial break in and tuning for this new stroker.

That is one beautiful powerband from a 35r series turbo and great power for such low boost. What will you be turning the boost up to? That thing at 38-40psi would be wicked
