WOW you will never believe it
Depends on what NADA value they use. Tell them if they use the "Loan" value, you'll take it. This is normally the highest loan amount a bank will finance for a particular car.
It shouldn't matter like these guys have said. Why would it matter what your car costs? Are they trying to figure out whether it is cheaper to buy you a new car vs paying to fix the broken car? Because all those mods cost money, they aren't free. Even if they gave you a used evo it wouldn't have the mods on it, so I have no idea where they are going with that.
Not really sure where this is going. Just called my mechanic. Told him that I heard there is no way they could pull any data from what the car was doing and he disagreed with me %100. He said he has a buddy that works for Mitsubishi and that they can do that. Other than that. I don't know what is going to happen quite yet.
i recently did some research on OBD systems, and what they may be referring to is when a vehicle throws a check engine light, the ecu stores the code, as well as a freeze frame of what the engine was doing when the code was thrown.
I think you're going to be in for a fight you may want to start changing out your aftermarket parts for stock now, they will most likely not give you dime 1 for them, speaking from experience. What was the brand of the flywheel?

You need to get the damaged appraised by a shop, probably one that deals with performance and body work.
Might be smart to also have a lawyer for good measure depending on what they try and do. Like I said earlier the amount of damage the car has sustained will probably total it in the event of an insurance claim so they might see the bill to get it fixed and tell you to **** off.
What kinda flywheel was it and what company came to look at your car?

You need to answer the flywheel question. Who made it. Per Aaron and others, that looks to be the stock flywheel so is Mitsu cutting you a check (the answer to that is no). So "the flywheel manufacturer" is going to cut you a check? Probably just someone else from where this "mechanic" works.
This smells extremely fishy, especially if they have had 9 other incidents like this. This is probably how they try to go about looking clean - pushing it off on some "flywheel manufacturer" when it was their faulty work on a stock flywheel to save money. Were you charged for a new flywheel? From which company? If that is a comp clutch I imagine it was a comp flywheel, if indeed they went with an aftermarket flywheel (again, sounds like BS!).
And then the mechanic is the one that shoots back that some magical mitsu friend of his says they can get the data? More BS! Sounds like you're relatively young and easily swayed. Like others have said: get a lawyer!!! Good luck with this.

I would not show them **** about what you bought the car for. If they want to know the value, they can pay for an appraiser or look up KBB themselves.
There is no black box in the car that will tell them secret information. This is an Evo not a Boeing 747. Idiots.

Smartest thing said.
Funniest things said.

Absolutely this. Quit talking to the mechanic, quit talking to the flywheel manufacturer and honestly you should probably stop posting about it (unless you have a technical question) until it's resolved. There is a good chance you are going to say something they could twist around to be incriminating or used to deny fault. Let them talk to your lawyer.
