Agreed with all of the posts - (1) run race gas and tune the car for ~30 psi, (2) if still needed consider changing gearing....I think the new found power ~60 hp + will address your straight line issues...

I agree with cij911. Use Volatile Products(VP) C-16 and have the car reflashed with a suitable racegas tune. Also, maybe your cams aren't suited for highspeed circuit racing. In the end the FP Black compressor wheel may be what you need for that highspeed straightaway.

I agree with all of you. I just got a email from Robert Fuller and he told me that The Red starts to really show up above 28psi, so YES, 24 is a waste. I will tune the car with racing fuel and get those extra horses I need to move the car faster at higher speeds. Also, he recommended talking to Shep about the super short JDM 5th gear. I think that the added PSI and gear would be a killer combination.

If you are operating your Red at just 24 PSI at the track, then you are not really into the compressor's efficiency range. There is probably another 70-90 WHP left in it if you would just turn up the boost over 28 PSI, with a proper "Race" tune.

Who tuned your car anyway? Was it a DIY tune, a mail-in tune, a road tune, or a dyno-tune?

Spray the Meth and get a tune, it will solve all of your current problems.

I think this is where the 6 SP shines, the 5th gear in the 6 SP is not a overdrive, but there are many other options to solve your problem, that is why I like 6 SP better.

Methanol injection is generally not approved for circuit / road racing...Race gas, high boost, and a proper tune will make this car a new beast....

Yes get your car retuned for higher boost like stated. This should bring your tq up 80+ ft lbs. Being that you have a large gap going from 4th to 5th it takes awhile to get back up into its peak power. Having that extra tq around ~5k will help pull 5th back up. If that still doesn't work then yes a shorter 5th will help that. You would still have a top speed of almost 165-170mph if you rev to ~8k which is fine for most 2.3 strokers. The VIII 5th is really too long unless you have some high speed tracks or have a ton of power like AMS old TA car.

Turn the boost up to 30 psi. My car is an EVO 8 with the 5 speed and fifth gear is totally usable on the track. I make around 460-470 whp at 28 psi on a GT3076R (very similar to the red).

You need to know your adversary totally. Then you will need to tune and gear your Evo for the specific track that you are running on. The Porsche GT3 weighs in at 3100 Lbs., it has a 3.8 Liter, 6-cylinder engine, and a 6-spd. racing tranny with interchangeable gearsets which can be easily swapped and precisely tailored to any one particular race track.

The Porsche driver can gear his car to redline in 6th gear at 170 mph max at the end of the straightaway. Thus, he sets up his lighter, larger displacement car to reach redline precisely at the end of the straight. Then he relies on his ceramic brakes to stop him.

Let's say that he has his tranny setup to exit the corner leading onto the straightaway at the top of third gear. He then would have three remaining, closely spaced cogs to yank him down the straightaway in his lighter car with the larger displacement engine(almost double the cc's). I doubt that he is actually pushing his car even.

I think that you will need to be running 31# of boost, a BBK(Big Brake Kit), as well as the correct gearing to even start to concern him. Otherwise you will continue to be an insignificant spec in his reareview mirror.
