BOV=No full boost?

Hey all, being the ricer that i am; i just installed a greddy type s BOV on my stock evo 9. Everything is working, only problem is w/ the stock BOV the car was holding 18-19 psi (1.3-1.4ish) ...depending what gear i was in, w/ the greddy BOV it's only holding 14.7ish(1.0)...i'm using the stock bar boost gage as a reference and i am at WOT while looking at the gage...any ideas on what i should do, please don't say go back to the stock BOV...should i adjust the hard/soft nut? should i adjust the allen wrench bolts (loosen or tighten)?

check for boost leaks. Change the soft/hard setting if it bucks when you let of the throttle. For future reference, change the diagphram when it starts to gobble like turkey which was 22,000 miles for me.

^^^i was concerned about boost leaks before, but i searched here and i saw some people were boosting at 18psi so i figured that was normal even though stock is supposed to be like 19.5-20 for an evo 9. What's the diaphragm? is that the allen wrench part? hasn't been bucking on me or anything so i guess i don't have to mess with the hard/softness..do you really think there could be a boost leak after switching out the BOV?

My guess is the Greddy BOV is leaking . Your better off using the stock one.

Greddys are notorious for leaks. I would also make sure you have no boost leaks from the install.

Did you get it brand new or used?

You should be boosting around 1.3 bar on stock boost levels.

My best guess is a leak. It takes ten minutes to just take it off and reinstall it to make sure everything is tightened properly. I know you don't want to hear it, but try returning to the stock bpv and see what the levels read. If you then are able to hit full boost, the greddy is malfunctioning or a leak somewhere in the vacuum lines.

thanks for the replies guys, actually i rechecked it at WOT, it is holding at around 1.2-1.4 for a bit (depending what gear i'm in) then tapers off to 1.0-1.1 around 6k (which is normal correct me if i'm wrong), and yes i bought the BOV used...so i guess here's my 2nd question...is it normal for it to be a bit quiet (my friends hks ssq was pretty loud, but he had intake/catback on his evo 8)? again i'm stock..i have an intake, but i'm not installing it until saturday. am i supposed to adjust the allan wrench part? seems fine as is, just curious why it's quiet...lack of modifications is my best guess thus far though.
