Need help/opinions on which route to go for best hp per $

I'm right about to install the AMS race head I bought from another member on these forums recently. I have a built 2.0 on a stock head and an equal length ETS turbo kit w/a HTA 3582r turbo running 33-35psi of boost on E85...

I currently have a stock ported intake manifold, Mil Spec 65mm TB, and early GSC S2 cams (not sure which version as I bought the evo with them already installed, but they were ok'd by GSC to run with stock valvetrain to 8k rpms)...Which route would be the best bang for the buck/which would make the most power.

Buschur Fabricated intake manifold (the one on the Bad Bish) OR a bigger/more radical cam.... i.e. Kelford 280/280, Kelford 280/276, GSC S3's, Tomei 280's etc..

Thanks!!

IMO It sounds like perfect timing for a camshaft replacement since the cylinder head is already off of the car, be sure to check this out

Intake mani will be off too....I like the price on those Kelfords, but did they come out with new versions as of late? I talked to a Kelford rep and he recommended the 8-TX280...a 280 intake/ 276 exhaust setup. I'm not sure if the 280/280 Kelfords are TOO much cam for street/strip as my evo is going to eventually be my Daily Driver.

I would do the cams while the head is off. It would be a lot easier and save you some money.

cams....now only which ones??? I don't mind giving up a "little" spool for maximum top end gains, but it still is primarily street driven.

Kelford, S2s, or FP4Rs

kelfords get my vote. 280/276 sounds like a good compromise between street and strip with that turbo set up. gl with the build

thx! I will also be on stock ecu, but I don't think that poses much of a problem with getting the car to be "civial" around town and at idle etc...

^ Dan the FP5Rs and much more aggressive than the FP4Rs. The FP4Rs are fairly equal to the GSC S2s. However you will not be able to run the FP5Rs. I wish we could, but you have to have a built motor otherwise your pistons will be paying a visit to your valves because of the aggressive valve lift on the 5Rs.

Personally you should get the GSC S2s. You will make more power than the 4Rs. Also Aaron has spent a year on getting the S2s dialed in perfectly. He knows exactly what degress to run them, the timing maps for our setups are on point, and the MIVEC for the S2s that he has is way better than any MIVEC map he has. Just remember he has S2s and he would spend hours on get just a few more hp out of those cams. Aaron is also is really close with Greg so he can get you a great price. PM Sent.

I ended up going with the kelford 280's and sent the ams/ Headgames head back to Headgames for their new port/valve design. I believe they will be posting up with pics about this. They said that their new design flows 20 more CFM over the ams version. I will also post up my new dyno #s once everything is finished
