evo 9 FP red/other turbos or ETS 50 trim turbo kit
evo 9 FP red/other turbos or ETS 50 trim turbo kit
yes, i did some research, but not all the questions i needed were answered. so here's my goal 400 whp on 93 pump. ETS 50 trim kit-$2400, FP red-$1800, CBRD-$1640, FP green-$1700. like most i'm just trying to get the best bang for my buck. i was pretty solid on the ETS kit, but i have some questions for it. i went through their options and i'd go with the BB 50 trim (+$325), i was wondering what's the diff between their "super value manifold" and "equal length manifold" ($400)? as for the wastegate would i want to get the recirculating($200)? and why? as you can see it comes out quite costly when i do this.
now being the turbo noob that i am, how would i put together a custom kit for those turbos i posted above, i'd assume dp, turbo manifold (maybe my stocky ported by BR), wastegate acutautor or wastegate (what size)? o2 housing...if i'm missing anything else let me know (don't worry about supporting mods i.e. fmic, engine management, tbe, licp/uicp, cams).

all I can tell you that on my AMS 50 trim at 29 lbs of boost on 93 octane and all supporting mods below, I was making 499 whp with meth injection.
I think the RED will be your best bet for the horsepower goal however it depends on all your supporting mods as well....
The red you would just need your stock manifold(oil lines), etc, if you wanna get it ported it would be best. The one advantage to the 50 trim kit is that in the case you want to move up with a bigger turbo down the road, its flanged to support up to a 35R from the manifold. At least the AMS kit is, I would guess that ETS is the same.
I think it comes down to, what are you doing with the car?
are you just shooting for a dyno #? roll racing, drag racing, autox, time attack? I think most people would say that the best route to go with is a RED, Black
If I had to redo my car again from scratch, I would first start with a 2.3 engine with full bolt ons and go work my way from there. but I like TORQUE and with the 2.3 and how fast it spools up turbos, its amazing what that 2.3 does to an EVO.

so this is what i'm gettin' from you, correct me if i'm wrong please...fp red is a direct bolt on...i really don't need anything else? i can use my stock evo parts for it? i would probably want to get a wastegate actuator to hold boost better right? and of course get the supporting AFTERMARKET mods for it.
if i go with the 50 trim, i don't plan on upgrading the turbo, i'd leave it as is. thanks.
