major power loss (maybe drivetrain related)

i drive a 03 evo with cams, tuned at 22psi. problem is the car doesn't want to move fast. when i get on her, the motor and turbo are both screaming but the car isn't moving the way it should (its really slow). my boost gauge reads 22psi like it should, you can hear the spooling of the turbo, transmission shift smooths, no whine or anything kind of noise, etc. i checked my axles and rear differential yesterday and they all checked fine. it can't be the center differential because the car wouldn't be able to move at all. so i'm guessing its the front differential. i really dunno right now guys, so help a fellow member out please.

Do the rpms go up but the car not pick up speed?

Does it get to a certain rpm then feel like it hits a wall?

Does it get to a certain rpm and feel like it wont go any faster?

Mod List?

Rule out the clutch by starting about 2-2.5k rpm in 4th or 5th then floor it you'll see if the rpms rise up and the car isnt picking up speed. Order up a clutch bro

rpm goes up and pick up some speed, pick up speed mainly at full psi

its doesn't feel like hitting a wall, smooth but slow

its smooth all the way and finally pick up speed at full psi (22psi)

i done 2 2-step launches just now and it pulls okay (fast but not omg fast)
i notice the front wheels was spinning some before i got traction

my cams are for low end horse and torque power. gsc 264intake/272exhaust. so my low rpm should pull a lot stronger then higher up rpm.

when my boost gauge reads between 0psi- 15psi there's no power, the car doesn't pull, i'm not suck into my seats. it only pulls when it see the full 22psi. car has stock evo 8 turbo and hotside. cams are meant for low end. i ran the car last year and it pulls amazingly, but now its just slow.

is this making sense guys? i'm losing my low end power

this all happen last snow storm. i forgotten that the car was in gear when i went to start her up and ''POP'' it stall on me. then i notice that my car started having a hard time driving on snow. tires are all seasonal n7000 nexen and still in good shape. i'm guessing its my front differential.

That means jack for clutch slippage. Read my post on how to tell if your clutch is actually slipping. Another thing you might want to do is a boost leak test

if my boost gauge reads 22psi, i would still check for boost leak? not trying to be a smart ***, i just don't know. i been working on my evo since i got her in 2004 and never have i ran into a problem like this. when my stock clutch went out on me, i had to rev higher to get into the gears and slippage here and there. but the clutch in it now is act hd single clutch.

if you had a leak, your turbo might be able to build 22psi, however will need to work harder to do so. This would depend on the nature of the leak, of course.

Sure you can still hit target boost with a leak just makes the turbo work harder. I didnt take you for a smart *** man. Your trying to get a handle on your problem nothing wrong with that.

Check the easy stuff to diagnose first.

Do you have EVOSCAN? Log the car and see if anything jumps out. You can usually tell a boost leak. Car will usually hit a higher load cell then normal

Boost leak test, do it now!

Did you get a bad tank of gas? What gas do you normally run?

Change your spark plugs and do a compression test while you're in there.

Log the car under WOT. airflow, timing, o2, knock, etc. Post results here.

Where are you located? Find a dynomometer, make an appointment, and log log log!

I pump 93 all the time. I will do the boost leak very soon and log. Maybe this weekend because this week is very busy with the holiday coming up.

Hey thanks everyone for their help and support. I will post my result this weekend. Hopefully my evo can run fast again
